Why Five Star exists, in his own words.
I started in the HVAC trade 25 years ago. In 2004, I founded TempRite in Nevada and built it for 16 years before getting bought out in 2020. Could have stayed in the industry on someone else's terms. Instead, I came home to Southern Utah and started Five Star with one rule: do honest work, charge fair prices, and answer the phone.
Most HVAC and plumbing companies you'll talk to in 2026 are owned by investors who've never turned a wrench. Their techs are paid on commission to upsell. Their phone trees route you to a call center. Their "emergency service" means a callback in 6 hours.
We don't run that way. My son Tanner works alongside me. Our techs are paid hourly, not on commission. The phone rings to a real human in St. George, day or night. When we say flat-rate, we mean it — what you sign for is what you pay.
